I would like to use an existing path to select objects that it touches. Similar to holding Alt+Drag to select with the red line, but using a existing path or shape to do the selecting.
Is there an extension for this? Is there a feature request I could make?
In a lot of cases I could do this as a work-around where I joined and then "separated" non overlapping sections, but that loses individual path fill etc.

1. Don't know, possibly.
2. Sure, but do it at https://inkscape.org/report
3. Try the new Boolean operations from 1.3, and node selection by drawing around instead, maybe they already solve your issues.
