I have a short question, which I am sure might be of wider interest:
1. Do you have any plan to include reading EPSs to Inkscape without installing GhostScript and making changes to Environmental Variables like explained here:
are fine. But some people do not have rights to change environment variables like PATH.
Actually for opening EPS files in inkscape, you only need to copy gswin64c.exe from GhostScript installation to inkscape bin directory.
It would make life much simpler if this file were included and copied during inkscape installation. Probably there are some problems with copyrights but I guess that could be fixed.
I click download. And I get the attached window. After filling in the username and password I get the new window with request to enter my credit card number (attached in my previous post).
I guess, you are already a registered user? Maybe you registered some time ago, when entering credit card number was not requested? Or you used some other link to download? Can you provide the direct download link?
Ok. Thank you Aero again for your patience. It was very helpful.
I managed to install GhostSctipt and Inkscape via PortableApps. In general it is fine, I can load EPS files and transform them to SVG. There are two minor problems by calling InkscapePortable via command line:
1. inkscapeportable.exe -V
does not report inkscape version like the ordinary inkscape which reports:
Inkscape 1.3.2 (091e20e, 2023-11-25, custom)
2. by calling InkscapePortable via command line the welcome picture (attached) appears, is it possible to avoid this?
It is not of life importance to solve these two problems but if anybody knows the solutions I would be very thankful.
Transforming EPS to SVG via command line takes 15 secs using InkscapePortable, and less than a second using ordinary inkscape. Any idea if / how calling InkscapePortable via command line can be speeded up?
Hello!
I have a short question, which I am sure might be of wider interest:
1. Do you have any plan to include reading EPSs to Inkscape without installing GhostScript and making changes to Environmental Variables like explained here:
https://inkscape.org/learn/faq/#how-open-eps-files-windows
2. Maybe you can at least provide installing GhostScript as an option, when installing Inkscape.
For me this is not a problem, but explaining students who do not have enough technical skills is always frustrating.
Thanks.
Instructions how to open EPS files in inkscape as explained here:
https://inkscape.org/learn/faq/#how-open-eps-files-windows
are fine. But some people do not have rights to change environment variables like PATH.

1. Download and install PortableApps.com Platform
2. Add apps, Ghostscript and Inkscape
3. Start Inkscape with EPS support
That looks promising.
However whenever I see that my credit card number needs to be provided (even if the cost is only $1.25*) I cancel such download.
I had bad experience with providing credit cards numbers on Internet.
Any way to download this application without providing credit card number?
It's free and Open Source Software.
https://portableapps.com/
If I want to download the software, I have to register. Before verifying my account I get the following window. See attached.
I cannot download the software without providing my credit card number.
To be clear: amount of 1.25$ is not the problem, the problem is that I do not want to enter my credit card number.
I just tested downloading it. No questions about registering here.
Thanks for your patience. That is more than strange!
I go to:

I have never ever registered there. I am 100% sure about that.
Now I see that in the meantime the PortableApps installation file was downloaded without finishing registration. I will try now.
Thanks a lot.
@Polygon, wrong link.
We want the Platform. We use the Apps button in the Platform to add Inkscape and Ghostscript.
Ah - OK. Take it down then.
Ok. Thank you Aero again for your patience. It was very helpful.

And here is minor problem #3:
