I'm sorry for maintaining a low profile. Work is silly crazy right now, so I'm heavily occupied and preoccupied. I took a quick long at your graphics and at Tavmjong's shape-arc tutorial. If you're looking for an opinion, I can give you one preliminarily.
The fundamental content is good in which you and Tavmjong show how circle/ellipse/arc drawing is done in the clockwise direction. I was weaned on the anti-clockwise direction because of my mathematics upbringing, though I have absolutely no problem adapting to Inkscape's clockwise philosophy. I suggest a cosmetic remake which I'll explain later once I've taken a long break. Ken, if you just drew up the graphics, you drew good material. It just needs retouching so that it tickles everybody's native intelligence.
saw a recent inquiry on a different topic that this "mini" tutorial might shed some light on. It is quick and "dirty" as my time is limited. Everyone is welcome to add their own details and/or graphics in order to help better one's knowledge about this.
BTW, prior to posting, I did try to find material from your tutorials on this ... by means of a google search. If I missed something, I am sorry. All folks are welcome to share their joy and knowledge. Be blessed, kind sir.

Thanks, Tyler! I was aware of the setting but had completely forgotten about it. In mathematics, 0 degrees is east, 90 is north, and anti-clockwise positive is some ancient math committee's preference. I figure that so long as we are all clear on where 0 is located and in which direction we're going, we're good. At least the Earth's magnetic poles haven't shifted overnight -- I would be very confused! Best wishes, Roy
Hi. Quick and "dirty" small "tutorial" here.
Read the link below and review the two graphics below.

Take care, stay well, Roy
Right... "quick long" ... I meant "quick look." I'm just getting daft in my old age. Roy
Thank you, Roy. Of course, opinions are welcome.

Inkscape has a setting for this...
