At one time during development, I was told that attachments could either be above the text or below.  After re-reading discussions, I'm not clear if this feature is still available, but I'll try a couple of attachments and look for some button or something.

Hhmm, I don't see any button regarding top or bottom, but there used to be a link icon, and now it seems to be a piece of paper icon....  pppppppfffff

Don't know what it means....we'll see.

Ok, the piece of paper icon is what creates that blue Attachments button.  I'll just need to edit my instructions.

    Hi TD

It turns out there had been some changes made to the attachments features, after I wrote the instructions for it.  So now I have edited the instructions.  The 2nd message of this topic explains how to use it.  https://inkscape.org/forums/questions/how-to-make-a-screenshot-and-put-it-in-a-message/

When you use that piece of paper icon, you end up with the blue Attachments button, where if I understand correctly, you would be able to download that file.  That's how we would receive SVG files from people who need help.

But if you want the image to show in the message, switch the piece of paper icon to the blue picture icon, and the image will show in the message.

    Edit

    I haven't tested with a video though....

    Edit #2

We don't have inline mode.  We could probably request it though.

    Edit #3

I'd be glad to put a Mentor icon beside your name, if you like  πŸ™‚  (or any other emoji with hover text)

    Remove a resource?

I was successful removing an attacment from a message.

I'm not having any luck removing that file from my resources page (a large gif file).

    What am I missing?

    Have a nice day.

It may be a bug (it's possible) can you send me the link you're using?

This is the URL of the image that would not appear in the message. https://dl.dropbox.com/s/vhh1a8j38o45jt1/2019-07-24_08-20-09.gif

I've not been able to remove images from my gallery either. I can't remove any attachments, but here's an example of an attachment that I can't remove.  https://inkscape.org/~brynn/%E2%98%85ms0

One thing that's confusing.  When I click on an image that I've uploaded from my profile, I get the regular image page, with description and Comments, etc.  But when I click on an attachment, it opens the image for editing.  And there, the only thing that would seem to delete the image, is the Clear button (up in the black area of the page).  But the clear button doesn't "click".  Nothing happens when I click on it.  Also, there are 2 files names and 2 Clear buttons.  I assume one is a duplicate and not needed?  Attached is a screenshot.

Is this issue reported to inkscape-web @brynn ? Because I think this is a user experence bug, i.e. a bug in how we epxected the galleries to be used. I think the answer is to make sure that edit screen has a big red delete button and make sure it works.

No I haven't reported it yet, because I'm not sure if it's a bug, and haven't confirmed it yet.  What's the Clear button supposed to do?

A few weeks ago, I was able to delete an attachment from my gallery.  And it did not remove the attachment from the forum message.  But now I can't remove attachments from my gallery.

The reason I noticed the Clear button doesn't seem to work, is that I made some attachments and posted the message.  Then shortly realized I didn't need the attachments, so I took them out of the message.  Then I went to my gallery to remove them but couldn't.

I'm not actually sure which part of all this needs a bug report and which doesn't.  But that's my experience.

The clear button removes the "file" from the resource object. That is, if you save it, you will end up with an emty shell of an item which has no file associated with it.

The bug is that you couldn't delete them whenyou tried. That's sufficient to be a bug.

update:Β  back to normal.Β  yay.Β  though I thought we could place the attachment wherever we wanted it to be, I didn't see a way to move it.
