I had installed version 0.92.4 previously and am now trying to install 1.0 however I've run into a problem.  Could have been self-inflicted as I didn't read the bit about uninstalling any previous versions.  Here are the steps:

    1. Installed 0.92.4 a few days ago.  Installed via the .exe installer

    2.  Downloaded and started to install version 1.0  (using the .exe option)

    3.  Stopped midway because I didn't understand the bit about installing in the "system path".  This window sat open as I researched the meaning of this (fyi: I still don't know what this means)

    4.  While researching above I discovered I had to uninstall first.  So I cancelled the install.

    5.  Used the uninstall feature of windows 10 Settings/whatever Microsoft is calling add/remove programs these days and hit the uninstall button (edit) to remove the older 0.92.4 version.(end edit)  Seems to work but then this warning kicks in and I can get no further:

    6. I've tried the uninstall via the start menu thing.

    7.  I have gone into services.msi found the Windows Installer (it was stopped) and started it.  Nothing.

I don't know what else to do.  Can anyone tell me.  I suppose my only work around is try installing under a different user account on this computer.

I am using Windows 10 Home edition.  Version 10.0.18363 Build 18363

If I were you then what I would have done in this situation?

Re-install the Inkscape. Run Inkscape and check if it is working.

    Process:

Click Start menu and go to Control Panel then locate Inkscape and click on Change/ Remove
to uninstall the program. Rest you know follow the uninstall wizard.

In my experience when I uninstall Inkscape during process it ask about should I leave
the settings something like that. Means If I have made any custom setting etc. it depends
some time I want and some time I don't.
Also if, you installed any extension or added customize color palette save them some
    where first.
Next: After successful uninstalling please re-install version 1.0

    Other than above:
For clean uninstall I prefer to use third party Revo Uninstaller. What does clean
uninstall mean? Often in normal way of uninstalling some files are left
even some in registry. By using clean uninstall we could get rid of that. BUT if you
do not know then do not do this.

You can also find uninstalling guide using URL link.

Hope above info might help you.

Do you use computer alone or share? What is your operating system?
