I have to split up a design in separate pieces to laser cut it out of a wood veneer. I used the shape builder tool but somehow it doesn't recognize all shapes (some shapes are filled dark grey), and can't be selected. The pattern was made out of a jpeg and converted to a vector graphic.

I have to split up a design in separate pieces to laser cut it out of a wood veneer. I used the shape builder tool but somehow it doesn't recognize all shapes (some shapes are filled dark grey), and can't be selected. The pattern was made out of a jpeg and converted to a vector graphic.
Again: perhaps ungroup the result of the autotrace and go Path->Break apart. I'd kill fill color and give a stroke for all elements. Fingers crossed.
