A couple of weeks ago I had a perfectly functional Inkscape-no problems.  Then, a couple of days ago I wanted to work on a new project and as soon as I selected the rectangle tool and began to draw the rectangle the entire working area of my screen went black.  I can see to tool bars and the area that has the tool controls but the page and the area around it are black.  Then I tried importing an image and wanted to put text over it.  No luck.  The text does not show up.  Handles are nowhere to be found and trying to create a bounding box doesn't work either.  I am way beyond frustrated at this point.  Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
