I am teaching myself Inkscape and so far so good. However, I have just spent the last 2 days trying to figure out how to set a scale for a landscape plan I am trying to complete for my permaculture design project.
I want to ensure that the measurements are correct. Currently, I have been practicing by uploading an image which has been cropped from Paint and then tracing on top of this to plot existing features. I have a boundary map from google that includes the boundary measurements but am unsure how to scale the drawing correctly. I have tried using the resize tool but I dont know how to keep the drawing to either a2 or a3 size. When I use the resize tool it pushes my plan outside of the page size and I just dont know how to use it properly. Can someone please help? Thank you
Then calculate what percentage you want it to print at. For instance, 1/8" = 1' means a 8"x16" concrete block will be represented by a line which is a percentage of life size. Figure out your percentages.
Make a copy of the plan.
Use the transform tool to scale x and y by your percentage.
State on your page the scale and percentage used.
Place the smaller image in a rectangle which has your desired proportions. EG letter and legal are proportional relationships. Export. Pull ping into a publisher and print.
OR
Create at full size - create page as backer - export.

Quickly resize (architectural) drawings by indicating a line and its length in real world units. Optionally scale the drawing with a specific scale factor and draw a scale rule.

Can you draw the plan full size?

There is an extension: https://inkscape.org/~Moini/%E2%98%85realscale-resize-by-line-of-known-length
Thank you, I have downloaded this and used however the image changes from the preferred page size. I dont know how to fix that.
