I am new to inkscape and am trying to get some help/information so that I can duplicate the attached scripts. I would like these for my classic car poster that I am trying to make (more about that sometime later).
I probably wouldn't make a font, but just trace the emblem with the Bezier pen tool. It will be a bit fiddly and tedious. But if it were easy, someone would have done it already.
Here's how I might progress, and add more highlights later to suggest metal.
This is basically outlining the faces and filling with gradients to suggest light direction. The picture is locked in the top layer with partial transparency.

I really need help with:
1. what fonts are these or are they custom?
2. How to make the raised effect.
Thanks
Fred
That would be a custom Chevrolet typeface. My quick search does not find a digital version.
I would start by making paths that follow the biggest version picture I can find, then work on adding features that suggest 3D.
I searched also and found that either Magneto or Raceway are close fonts. But I would like to get exact. Not sure how to "make a font" so to speak.

Here's one way to add a highlight:
