When I have an image on the clipboard, going into Inkscape and doing Ctrl-V or selecting Paste from the menu will often not result in the image being pasted. Sometimes it does, but if it fails once, it doesn't work at all after that (even with different image, or going back and copying the original image to the clipboard again). If I close and reopen Inkscape sometimes it will work again, but often not.
Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a way to solve it?
Hi mobster! Even though I'm using a new operating system, I'm still dealing with this issue. I don't believe that the issue is related to a particular operating system.
No issue on macOS so far BUT one have to make sure to copy the image content and not just a file/document from a folder or any other storage place. That means you have to have the image somewhere open like in a browser etc. and copy from there. Funny or "crazy" aside when I copy an SVG from a folder to paste it into an open document in Inkscape I ยดll get this "placeholder" instead.

What OS are you using.ย
I ask because this was a problem I had on Ubuntu 20.x - it was the clipboard manager in Ubuntu which was affecting the pasted data.
Just the standard Win10 on PC :)
