I've been using the 'Pattern Along Path' tool to create a set of 1.5mm circles spaced evenly to represent holes that need punching (I'm making patterns for leatherwork).
I create and copy my 1.5mm circle, and then when choosing the settings, I choose 'Link to Path in clipboard'. Pattern copies is set to 'Repeated, stretched', and I set the spacing as required.
Part of my line of dots decides to get squished. I have a section that has just decided to flatten the circles. It seems to be 50/50 if this happens when I used 'Pattern Along Path', but I can't see what I've got different on the times that it works to when it doesn't!
Hi. Setting this to "Repeated, Stretched" will indeed "squish" or contort your pattern shape as it best attemps to fit with your path and spacing parameters. Can you share your file/svg - giving an example image and what you're getting, what you consider wrong and your desired result? Also include your operating system and version of Inkscape you are using. Then I think we will better informed to help you more.
That'd be my suggestion as well but I can't figure out how to align pattern+path+offset to work as expected. "Follow Path orientation" makes it even worth and the Help pages are not helpful in this case.
Hello!

Any help greatly appreciated.

This might be better addressed by the scatter extension: Extensions>Generate from Path>Scatter.

Seems broken in 1.0.2.

@00Zee be sure the "Width" setting is 1.0 in addition to setting the "Repeated" option, for the items to keep their shape proportion.
