I'm sorry if this has been asked before but my search turned up nothing so I ask it here. Can anybody suggest a good series of Inkscape tutorials in English that are a bit beyond the entry level starter tutorials. I've viewed many of them and have a tiny understanding of what the basic tools can do but beyond that I am SO confused on what tools do what and in what order to use them. What I'm looking for is a series that might take a subject matter and create something using as many of the tools as possible with an explanation on each one used and why/when to use it. If there is such a series, I've not yet found it. I would pay to sit in a classroom setting and be taught this software. I want desperately to learn it before I die and at 79 years of age, time is getting short. Thank you to anybody who might take this seriously and give me some advice.
I agree with Tyler. Xav wrote a really nice tutorial series. At the risk of sounding immodest, if you Google "Inkscape Roy," a basic tutorial series that I wrote is at the top of the listing. I use a lot of pictures. If that helps, then you're having a really nice day. Best wishes, Roy
Ray - I completely agree with Tyler's and Roy's recommendations. The only caveat is that both sets of tutorials are text based (but with Very helpful graphics).
(The site belongs to Xav who wrote the text based tutorials in Full Circle magazine) The videos are by Heathenx and some are quite old but still useful, especially because Xav has updated the video comments with updated URLs or menu selections. Some of the videos discuss specific tools and others discuss how to achieve specific graphic effects using multiple tools - but all in great detail.
Another source of video tutorials is Logos by Nick. While at Youtube you will see his tutorials come up whenever you search for Inkscape tutorials. Again, there are over 100 tutorials(free) of his on Youtube. He too has tool specific tutorials and graphic effect tutorials. You will also see that many of his tutorials reference a Master Class in Inkscape which you have to pay for but it goes through each tool and most menu selections and the effect of varying parameters. The Master Class is also more current (ver 1.0 and maybe 1.1) than the Heathenx videos)
I would also recommend opening the Inkscape manual (Inkscape, A Guide to a Vector Drawing Program, 4th Edition) linked in the Inkscape Help menu and on the Inkscape website under the Learn tab ( at this URL : https://inkscape.org/learn/books/ ). This is a great place to read about the tools and functions while you are exercising your skills. This manual also has some very detailed tutorials that exercise your use of various tools.
Thanks to all of you for your kindness in helping this old gent out. I'll be reading/watching/viewing everything that you have suggested. I have been doing some on my own and maybe making some headway toward understanding what it's all about. There are tools that are so beyond what I will ever need that I doubt I'll ever get to them. Once again, thank you.
Roy, I have looked at your tutorial page and I think it will be most helpful. Thank you for your time in creating it.
The pleasure is all mine, Ray! I had a great time putting the tutorial together. That is how I taught myself Inkscape. I wish you lots of fun and good times. I'll be lurking around when work, time, and energy permit. Don't hesitate to get in touch, drop a line, ask a question, ... and the list goes on. If I'm slow, please be patient. Best wishes and do stay well, Roy

Dig in; Enjoy. If you get hung up check the Inkscape Forum or post a question there ( https://inkscape.org/forums/questions/ ).
