I have an object with corners rounded off using Path Effects->Chamfer. Works great, looks exactly how I want it. If I move the object the radius of curvature increases and the corners are all MUCH too rounded. Edit->Undo reverts back to the previous, correct appearance. I've tried various combinations of deselecting nodes, objects, setting radius to 0 before leaving Path Effects, saving and reopening, and nothing gets rid of this behavior.
I haven't seen this myself, but the corner radius should be preserved when you move an obect. I have a few questions. Is your object a bezier path? Did you draw a path using the Spiro mode? Does this happen when you use the select tool? What if you use the node tool to select all nodes and move them?
Polygon's answer is correct; it's necessary to convert Object -> Path after Path Effects are applied. I don't know why it takes a move to trigger the behavior I saw, but converting to Path somewhat obsessively takes care of the issue.
Well I won´t see it as a workaround - just a step to finalizing design - but that´s probably just me. It don´t become altered when moved here - but inside groups and further work with for instance Text->Put->On->Path can generate unwanted side-effects.

Go Path->Object to Path to make the effect permanent.

There should be no need for the workaround. There is likely an issue specific to the system or the document, not Inkscape in general.
i.e. I cannot reproduce the issue in Windows or Linux.
Feel free to share an Inkscape SVG that has the issue, for further investigation.
