my question is very simple, hopefully the answer from you too :-)
Please have a look at this font, I like it really! Is it possible to create that , lets call it "filter" also for my existing font or just for objects, that they look like here?
Sure it´s possible: take a grungy black+white image (better look up for something like "Speckles Texture) - autotrace - put converted/combined text underneath and go Boolean-Difference for instance:
Wow, I am impressed! But I need a little bit more help. Sorry :-/
I am at this point have a look at the picture, please. Now I do not have experience with the things you explained called autotrace + text converted+combined. so what I have to do next?
You´ll find Autotrace under Path->Trace Bitmap… which converts an raster image into vector graphic.
Text with Object-to-Path converted ends in a group (for a strange reason) - that needs ungrouped and combined (Path->Combine) to receive 1 path for the text object.
Put the traced image above the text object - select both and go Path->Difference - that should do it. Let´s see if this will help already.
I just have two problems, first: with normal text from inkscape it doesn´t work and second its difficult to select both when the text is behind the speckles picture because you cannot catch it
can I ask one more question . hopfully I can :-) Now i have it like you explained. the new "picture" has now eight black letters. I would like to give one letter another colour, blue. I tried and thought maybe to create a new vector like "Path->Trace Bitmap… which converts an raster image into vector graphic" but this doesn´t work
If you have difficulties to select what´s behind try hold alt-key down and there´s always the Object-Objects... panel where all your objects are listed/selectable/deletable/etc
The color thing is a bit scary first: select and go Path->Break apart boom - now area select what belongs to one letter and go Path->Combine - boom back in all the beauty - same procedure with the remaining letters - ready to paint/Fill/Gradient fill - what you like.
