Hi. I'm learning Inkscape on v. 1.3 on a Windows 10, and working thru the v. 1.2 Release notes to learn stuff not covered in the Manual. In the Layers Dialog, I'm told there's a button to toggle between Layers and Object Modes which I can't find. Also can't figure out how to select multiple Layers. When I click on the Layer label in Layers mode using the (Dark Theme) i usually get a faint blue hilite, but on repeated clicks get a more visible blue hilite. I can sometimes Ctl+Click to get multiple layers selected with this more visible hilite, but I can't figure out how to get this hilite consistently. Everything seems pretty random. Any thots?

Layer and Object modes are stored in the advanced settings behind the cog-wheel:
Not sure why you want to select Layers instead of its content.
Thanks for your help. Not sure why either, but the Notes said I should be able to and I was curious why I could do so only sporadically.
