Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has come across this particular issue.

I've attached screenshots of the same section of a map, one when saved as an SVG and the exact same file has been saved as a PDF.

For some reason the PDF version has a white background behind the trees as if they have a white background, but this doesn't show on the SVG version. I can also export the map as a PNG or JPEG and the trees don't have a white background.

    Many thanks

    Kieran

Can´t recreate this case. I attached SVG for to compare. JPEGs don´t support alpha channel/transparency. Go document properties to enable Checkerboard.

Hi, thanks for taking a look. I've attached another couple of images with the document background removed so you can the checkerboard background.

The one with the transparent background is a screenshot from the file open within Inkscape, the second one is how it looks when the pdf is viewed in a web browser.

    Thanks

I don´t need any more screenshots. Can you take my Inkscape file and save as PDF and check it it´s working as expected. If so please compare with your file.

They are showing with a black background when I've exported your file to a pdf. See attached screenshot. Thanks

I believe that´s your PDF viewer having trouble with transparencies. Here it´s looking as expected. And a re-import of the PDF into Inkscape shows no issues.
