i cant find the guide lines, is there anything i should switch on or off
Try View and see if Guides is checked. Then click on rulers and drag guide onto screen. You can hover over guide and double click when hand shows up to set angles and precision position.
CTRL+R is the shortcut to show or hide the guides. You can also do it from View/Show-hide/Rulers.
Ctrl+R is for rulers.
"Pipe", the | key (aka shifted \ key) is to show/hide guides.
