When I reopened a file this dotted border appeared. I did not create it. When I try to work with the blue objects I cannot.  IF I delete the big box all the small objects disappear.  I have checked document properties and bounding box is turn off. I have tried ungrouping -- did not work.  On the web someone said that this is an indicator box and you delete it is preferences. I have checked document properties and bounding box is turn off. I cannot find that object in preferences.

I downloaded the latest version.  I am on windows 10

I cannot paste a screen shoot here.

Images and files can be attached using the paper clip icon, or be dragged into the text area. No pasting.

Is this is what you mean?

The dashed outline is the bounding box of the currently selected shape (or shapes). The blue outline indicates that this shape is part of a Live Path Effect. In this case I used [Fill Between Strokes]. It's a visual aid only and is not a part of the drawing.
