I've been using Inkscape for a while now and I've never had this issue before, but today all of a sudden I (sometimes) can't move or change the color of a shape or imported image. Trying to move them just creates a selection box. I also can't select them by clicking on them anymore. Is there some setting I accidently toggled on or something?
Maybe you accidentally locked some objects or the layer containing them? In this case, selecting them/anything in the locked layer on the canvas is no longer possible.

That's not very user friendly.
I'd try resetting the System preferences.xml, by clicking the big button in the Preferences dialog.
Issue seems to have fixed itself somehow. Selecting and moving stuff is working fine now.
Closing and reopening didn't help when I was having the issue earlier in the day, so I have no clue what changed.
Thanks though! I'll keep resetting the preferences in mind if the problem pops up again.
