Hi all, struggling to figure out how to add a node at an exact distance from an another point.

I've converted the object to a path, added an extra node and been able to move it manually to with 0.5mm from the exact point I want but figure there must be a quicker and more accurate way to achieve this.

Hi Bm,

You can use the measure tool if you're casually measuring Angles and distance.

But it sounds like you are working with something to scale. There is a great solution in Inkscape for this.

This way the measurements change as you move paths around.

To add it:

Path (menu) => Path Effects

Select  the path

Under Path Effects - Add Measure segments (as shown in my screenshot) by clicking the + button in the screenshot.

I don´t see how this will help to place a new point at curved element for instance:

Thanks Creativ. PixelPest helped me with that solution recently at the beginning of this quest which was awesome but as he's pointed out not quite the solution to this issue I'm hoping for.

I've attached a pic of what I've been able to achieve manually but as you can see the 45mm segments aren't exactly 45mm and I can't figure out to dial it in or do it quickly.

Quite laborious - but works:

I can adjust the precision to zero decimals but the movement adjustment is still 0.5mm.
