Good day, hope someone can assist. I am doing a tutorial and using the path/trace bitmap feature. I select the essentials according to the instructions: Colors/Smooth/Stack Scans/Remove Background and also the SIOX forground selection. Six scans...

Once I click OK, takes a few seconds, then I get a message that there is an issue with Inkscape and the file has been saved to a folder in the C drive. Shuts down right after. I have tried it several times, same result. I am using version Inkscape 0.92.4 (5da689c313, 2019-01-14). My browser is Chrome, updated.

    Attaching the error message.

    Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

From what I understand, it sounds like you're trying to recover an unsaved document.

If Inkscape saves documents successfully, the automatic backup location is C:\Documents and Settings\<name>\

The documents are called: "New document 1.2019_11_04_21_39_42.0.svg"

Could this be the issue: https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inkscape/issues/293 ?

If so, it will be fixed in 1.0. You can try a current development version to confirm: https://inkscape.org/release/master/

Good day to all, I appreciate your answers.

To answer the initial comment, no, I am not trying to recover an unsaved document. Instead, I am trying to figure out why Inkscape crashes or shuts down every time I try to use Tace Bitmap.

My system specs: I am using Windows 7 Home Premium, 64 bit operating system. Not sure what else you need.

I am going to download the 1.0 version and try the entire exercise all over. I will let you know how that turns out.

    Thanks to all again...much appreciated.
