I'm attempting to make a flower-themed puzzle but Inkscape (0.92.2 on Mac) keeps giving me an error and crashing. I thought my file had just got corrupted somehow so I started from scratch but it's happening again, but I don't know what I'm doing to cause it.
I've drawn a curved path that I will eventually be split up into three sections, with each having a pointy oval/leaf shape around it, but when I try to rotate half of the pointy oval, it crashes when trying to snap to other points (or at least that is my best guess). That's not the best description, my apologies, but perhaps the attached file will make more sense.
I'm not sure it is appropriate in every case as it may remove transformation info that you want to keep or change the type of curve - your adjustment handles etc may change.
Might be worth giving it a go, but use with caution.
0.92.5 is not as feature-packed as Inkscape 1.0 will be!
0.92.5 is not availabe for macOS. Please use the latest beta version of Inkscape 1.0, if you want a newer Inkscape that integrates better with macOS and works with high resolution screens. Catalina users must use the beta version, because Inkscape 0.92.2 will not run on macOS Catalina (Inkscape 0.92.2 is 32bit only).
Tyler Durden: I've not had issues with too many snap options before though, so it seems odd. And I've just done another test with only the bare minimum of snap options enabled, but it still crashes.
inklinae: I'm not sure I understand what the purpose of the extension is, or how it helps in this situation, sorry. Could you explain further, please?
Polygon: Is the crashing when snapping a known issue then? I'm not sure how I feel about using a beta version, especially since I haven't had any other crashing issues with the current version of Inkscape that I have.
I haven't used Inkscape in a little while so I didn't realise there was a stable update for macOS, and I didn't think to check. Do you think an update will fix the issue then?
It seems that the crashing (also) happens if I try to move a snapped node - I've attached a screen recording of what's happening, in case it makes a difference.
inklinea: Ah ok, though I don't think that is the case since the crash happens even with newly drawn lines that have only been flipped once. And unfortunately the file you attached still crashes when I try to rotate and snap one of the half pointy ovals. But I appreciate the suggestion, thank you.
For anyone still interested, or following along, I've done some experimenting and it seems that the crash occurs when the path I'm trying to snap has a symmetric node in the middle. If I make the half pointy ovals into half pointy diamonds with corner nodes in the middle instead, then inkscape stays open. But I don't want pointy diamonds! So is there someone else that has any ideas, please?
I appreciate the suggestion, and whilst I could indeed draw the curves without the symmetrical nodes like I did for the big ovals, I found it trickier/more fiddly to do so with the small ones because of the angles and trying to fit them around the curves of the big oval. Plus it seems like an odd crash to happen so I'm a bit worried about whether there is a bigger issue going on that could keep affecting my files and ability to use inkscape.

Thank you in advance for your time and help.
Same behavior in v 1.1, but if I reduce the number of options in the snap tools, it doesn't crash.
There is an extension called 'Flatten Transforms' by Klowner. I find it very useful.
I'm using the Inkscape 1.1 version. https://inkscape.org/~Klowner/%E2%98%85apply-transforms
The pre 1.0 version is here https://github.com/Klowner/inkscape-applytransforms/tree/inkscape-pre1.0-compat

I've attached your file after flattening.
Have you reading this?

I don´t understand; there are 7 pointy ovals on the canvas - which one is causing the issue?
This one?
Polygon: It doesn't seem to me to be a specific pointy oval, but it also doesn't seem to always happen so I'm not sure.
I updated above. I´m on BigSur/Inkscape1.2devel. (M1MacMini)
That's half of one of the pointy ovals I mean, yes, sorry for not being clearer.
Any reason not to update?

I thought that the crash might be related to cumulative transforms.
The image I attached has been flattened, just to eliminate that possibility.

You can skip the symmetrical node then as you have already done here:
