I have been trying to import a vector eps file and I just cant seem to make it work.
All of the information that I have found is either for Windows, or inkscape sends and error. I don't have either. I am working on a Linux machine (Ubuntu 20.04) according to apt-get I have version 9.50 of ghostscript, I have tried importing it with the Snap store and the Ubuntu's software versions of inkscape.
I dont get any errors, I only see the normal import dialog, but when I import the image (Through Menus or drag and drop) I only get a really low resolution image, no vectors.
Thank you very much for your response. I tried your test file and it worked without an issue. Funny enough, earlier I was working with some .ai files and also worked without a problem. But if I try using either of the ones attached, It doesnt work. Yes, they are some free vectors from the internet, so I have no idea what they were originally made in. (chances are Illustrator).
Thank you very much... I had no idea and when I downloaded it, I made sure I was downloading the vector option. I guess this thread should have been posted in the Beginner section 🤦♂️
Hi! I can't open .eps files in Inkscape, rather it turns to images just like the original poster. I use Zorin OS which is base in Ubuntu. I tried the testing file above but still: just like you can see in my attached photo.Using Inkscape 1.0. Hope to find solution for this cause this is really quite helpful. Thanks!

Thanks a lot.
EPS files like svg, can contain vector and bitmap objects. These two files contain just bitmaps and no vector data.

Thanks again.

The status bar says: "Group of 9 objects". Have you checked inside the group already?
