I have been trying all evening to install the Living Hinge into Inkscape according to these directions but it is not showing up. Is there someone who can walk me through it?
"Installing is as simple as copying the script (unless it resides in your path) and its INX file to the inkscape/share/extensions ($HOME/.config/inkscape/extensions) directory.
If you installed on Windows, this is most likely "C:\Program Files\Inkscape\share\extensions" or "C:\Program Files (x86)\Inkscape\share\extensions".
After install, start Inkscape with a blank document. The tool is available under the Extensions->LaserTools->Living Hinge menu item."
Wow, you're not gonna believe this, at least I can't believe it, but I clicked on different things and FINALLY got it to work. (I think it was the Properties icon that did it.) After restarting Inkscape I checked and it's there!!! Thank you for your help.ย ๐ I've spent WAY too many hours trying to figure it out on my own.
Now that it's installed I can't get it to work. I've tried different settings, even used the exact same settings in the example page but I just keep getting this ERROR message. Any idea where I went wrong?

I've clicked on "Get The Code", opened it, and this is what comes up. What do I do next?

I'd copy the .py and .inx files, then use the folder button in the Preferences dialog to open the target folder. Paste and restart Inkscape.

Placing extensions in this folder will keep them intact after any changes to the Inkscape program (update/uninstall/reinstall).
Ok, I've clicked "Open" for User Extensions and this little window pops up. So how do I get the files into the user extensions? What do I click on?

The date on the file says 2013, so the extension might not work with the most recent version of Inkscape.
I'd contact the developer and see if they have an updated version or plans for one.
