I just downloaded Inkscape 1.2.1, my first time for Inkscape, using the Mac .dmg labelled "Intel." Instructions say to open "Manage Extensions" to download and add an extension. (I want to use Inkstitch.) However, selecting Manage Extensions gives me a spinning beach ball that doesn't stop. I have to Force Quit. I am running Big Sur 11.4 on a Mac Mini with the 3.6 GHz Quad Core Intel Core 13 Processor.
Thanks for the information. I finally figured it out. Inkstitch installer told me I hadn't installed Inkscape. I had downloaded the .dmg directly into my Applications folder and was opening Inkscape from the .dmg. The picture of "Inkscape arrow Applications" didn't make sense to me because I had already put it in the Applications folder. (I'm more of a word person than a picture person.) When I finally did a "drag and drop" of the Inkscape icon over the Applications icon it "installed" and I was able to install Inkstitch and it now appears in my list.

I think this belongs in the "Beginners" forum. I never got as far as a menu to down load "Inkstitch."
Inkstitch has its own installer: https://inkstitch.org/docs/install-macos/
