Each time I install Inkscape (like reinstalling Windows, or getting a new laptop), I have to go through a lot of fiddly tweaks to set everything back to "normal", the way I had everything set up before. LIke all my keyboard shortcuts...
Is there a way to do this by exporting or backing up settings to import to a new install? That would save a lot of work! 😊
I haven't tested this myself so this is theory on my part.
Go to Inkscape Preferences > System. You'll see a list of files and folders where your user configurations are stored, including a folder named "keys" which I presume stores your keyboard shortcuts. Copy these files to some backup location and restore them when you set up another Inkscape version.
The entire user profile (C:/Users/username/AppData/Roaming/Inkscape) can be saved and reloaded after installing the same Inkscape version on a new machine or HDD/SSD.
