I'd like to be able to do something similar in Inkscape. I'd guess it would work if each point, each vertex, each bezier control handle, everything defined with their x and y coordinates could get its new coordinates like each pixel in this distorted imake gets its new coordinate.
I'd further guess the result wouldn't be exactly the same as distorting the corresponding pixel based image. First of all, a rectangle doesn't need any bezier control handles. But for getting this to work even a bit like in the video, a rectangle would have to be defined as a closed path with four vertex nodes and additional bezier control handles.
I couldn't find any extension that could create this effect.
