Hi - Novice user here Using the latest release (Inkscape 1.4 (86a8ad7, 2024-10-11)
When trying to transform or move a copied line or a simple copied 1" square using the arrow keys at a specified distance, in this case .015",
the move is not accurately placed. In Prefs, I have set the Steps, Arrow Key move by at .015". and the 'Relative Move' box is selected.
I have snapped them together first of course, but when measuring the two objects after the move, the measurement is wrong - reads: .0104", not .015".
Appreciate any guidance - cheers
The measurement can depend on the bounding box (the dotted outline).
The bounding box can indicate the geometry (path/rectangle) or the visual (includes the thickness of the stroke).
If changing the bounding box does not resolve the issue, please attach an example Inkscape svg file that has the issue to your reply.
This "MIGHT" also be a bug that is fixed in v1.4.2. It was fixed in v1.4.1 but that was not released officially. https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inkscape/-/issues/5308V1.4.2 should be released very soon. Maybe this weekend?
Nice find!
Yes, there is a high likelihood 1.4.2 will appear this weekend.
Already downloaded and installed 🤣
About to verify if a bug I reported last week will show up fixed in this release or v1.5 (yuk).
Edit: Nope - will have to wait till v1.5😭
I'm not able to reproduce in 1.4.1 linux. 🤔
