Hi everyone.  I am trying to make animal tracks along a path but it always comes out distorted.  I want them to look like an animal walking so one print will be slightly in front of the other.  I don't want to put it around a circle.

I have tried many ways.  I use the bezier tool to make the line and turn it into a path.  Then I bend it the way I want the tracks to look.  But no matter what I do, it always comes out messed up.  If I try single, the line becomes super small.  If I do single streched, repeat or repeat stretched, it comes out even crazier looking.  They don't even look like the paw prints any more they are so distorted.  If I manage to get it to work at all, it just becomes one single print along the path and if I try to duplicate the path and put it next to the other one but lower, it doesn't work either.  

i really wanted to make some kind of template for myself that I could reuse in the future should i decide to change the design but maybe the only way to make it look like tracks, one slightly offset to the other, is to do it manually?

Thank you both so much.  I tried these both yesterday but neither worked.  I tried this morning, they both work.  I wonder if maybe I tried so many times on the same canvas that there weren't things left behind that I didn't realize or something.  I'll never know.  But thank you!
