My wife and I are finally ready to dig in and use Inkscape and, unfortunately, there is an incompatibility (that the Inkscape team disclosed when downloading) with Apple’s latest OS release for the M1 Mac.
We have MacBook Air M1 laptop computers with MacOS Ventura 13.2.1
I did a fresh install.
Inkscape 1.2.2 in Apple’s .dmg format (from your site)
The install went fine, but as disclosed, mouse operations didn’t work.
I was unable to find any discussion here in the forum or in the draft 1.3 release notes.
That´s a rare case and most likely a Ventura thing. I have both Intel and Arm versions here on M1MacMini/BigSur running. Inkscape seems bitchy after updates - so the most call is to reset Inkscape Preferences at Preferences->System->Reset Preferences and restart Inkscape. Not sure if this will help. Worth a try though. Fingers crossed.

Important Notes
supports macOS High Sierra (10.13) - Monterey (12)
macOS Ventura (13) not supported
On Ventura, Inkscape is unresponsive to certain mouse events (keyboard still works). We are working on the necessary updates.
(Ventura broke GTK3, the UI library Inkscape and many other programs rely on).
There are testing versions available,

Thank you, Tyler! I could have sworn that I had search for Ventura in the GitLab.
I'm happy to see a that work is being done to fix this problem. I look forward to trying it out soon, but maybe not until the next general release.
