Hoping someone has already been down this road before me and can provide direction. I'm attempting to print images at actual size with tight tolerances. So far I've tried saving files as a pdf and png. I've used the ruler function to make sure my stroke widths are dead on. I have chosen "no scaling" in print dialog boxes. The problem: objects that measure at precisely 7.00 inches in inkscape, shrink by about 1/8 inch when printed. Is this a printer problem or an inkscape learning opportunity. Thanks!
Frequently, printer margin settings are causing issues like this (although the 'no scaling' option should solve this...). Another thing to check: Is the paper size identical in Inkscape and the printer? And... when you print your png from another application, does it give you more accurate results?
I always print from Gimp, as it has the most advanced print dialog of all programs on my system.
I've checked the paper sizes to make sure the printer and inkscape document properties match. The png files seem to be slightly closer to actual size but still about a mm off on a 7 inch square object print job. I will look at GIMP to see if that helps.
Hi jdavis1582. What is your operating system? What is your inkscape version? I would try to follow Moini's suggestions as he is a very old and knowledgeable Inkscape user. If you don't have the latest beta of inkscape (Load the www.inkscape.org website in your browser than go to Downloads > Upcoming Version (1.0) (link is https://inkscape.org/release/inkscape-1.0/?latest=1 choose your operating system and install it.
Try printing from PDF viewer and from Gimp to observe if there are any differences. Also, if posible, using a newer version of the inkscape, even the betas, could signal if your issue was fixed or not in the next upcoming release. Since I don't have a printer here with me I won't be able to help you closer with this. If I happen to have access to a printer I will try your files out (but I can't promise this will be soon).

Hi @jdavis1582 are you able to upload the png, pdf and svg files so we can take a closer look at them?
