I have not been able to get my (XP-Pen) tablet pressure to work with any version of Inkscape beyond 0.9x. In versions 1.22 ,1.3 ,1,4, tablet pressure is just not functioning. I will focus on v1.22 since it is "officially" supported on my OS which is Win7, but what I say may apply on newer versions of Inkscape, and newer versions of Windows, with a variety of GraphicTablets.

I contacted XP-Pen and they eventually acknowledged (came to the realization) that their tablets pressure do not seem to "really" work with Inkscape. They also said that they couldn't get pressure to work in other brands Graphic Tablets other than their own. Indicating that that the problem may lie with Inkscape and not the tablets.

Here is my Observation, accompanied by a screenshot to help you, and hopefully the developers of Inkscape, understand what I have noticed.

My first stoke with the calligraphy tool does have pressure. Only the first stroke. All other strokes have no pressure. UNLESS (and this is important) I click away from the application and into another window. For example a Notepad that has been left open, and set to always be "on top" of other windows (for convenience). Then, when I return to inkscape, my FIRST stroke again always has pressure. So between every stroke I have to click on Notepad (or some application other than Inkscape) before I paint the next stroke.

What conclusions can one draw from this? Why did pressure work flawlessly in Inkscape v0.9x, but after that only works with this counterproductive hack?

If anyone that is also experiencing graphic tablet pressure compatibility issues with Inkscape, has the time to try this and post a reply, it would be helpful. At least to me as a starting point.

If your pressure is working fine, and you do not need to find a fix, please mention the graphic tablet you are using and the version of Inkscape you are working with. Especially if it is XP-Pen. I really appreciate Inkscape and use it fairly frequently for what it does. But I can't help to be a bit jealous when I see other artists produce beautiful clean artwork that clearly utilizes Graphic Tablet Pressure.
