Beginners' Questions Export as pat file

I usually create patterns in Inkscape and export the design in png format, double the size. Then I open the file in Gimp, reduce it by 50% and export it in pat format. The pat file can then be installed into Krita, Gimp or Photoshop.

Is there any way to export the pattern directly in pat format from within Inkscape itself? That would save me a lot of time...

Inkscape can't create raster patterns but I think you can skip some steps here.

Krita can import svg files directly.

You can copy Inkscape shapes and paste into Krita.

Krita can create patterns without using Gimp.

Thanks, Paddy_CAD...but I would still have to use another program besides Inkscape to generate the pat file.

Even though I like Krita a lot, I still prefer using Inkscape to draw the pattern as it is better suited for manipulating vectors. I even made two vector packages in Inkscape for use in Krita, you can see these threads on the Krita Artists forum, here and here.

OK. I have one more suggestion. Inkscape can't export pat files, but it can export png files at any size and resolution and Krita can use these for patterns too. Just save them in the ../patterns folder [Krita Preferences > General > Resources].

Thanks, but I already exported as png, as I described at the beginning of the topic... and, as I said there, it would save time if Inkscape exported directly in pat format.
