I have imported a JPEG image from Canva into Inkscape.
Is there any way to save it in a .AI file format.
What I tried:
-I selected image in Inkscape and then clicked on Path>TraceBitmap. I clicked on update and then ok. Nothing really happened but I see that my image transformed into a multilayer format.
-Then I saved this file as a .svg file and tried to convert it to an AI file using the ConvertIO utility but I get an error???
I did a quick Google search for free online convertors from PDF to Adobe Illustrstor. Within seconds, there were links to do just that. As far as their quality output, I do not know.
But a simple search can lead you to many possibilities.
Sorry, you have not yet found a suitable answer, a convertor to do that PDF to AI switch. I do not own nor use Canva nor AI. And, I cannot be a judge as to what you may find as a quality result.
There may not be a one step soultion for you. Like I did, you can search more and experiment with the outcomes. Maybe even look further into what Canva can and cannot do. Perhaps there may even be a trial limited version of AI you could temporarily use to get you to your goal.
Like Polygon, I volunteer my time and skills here for free, in the hopes to help folks. Perhaps someone else can offer better information on these outside of Inkscape concerns. All the best to you.
So are you saying to export PDF from Canva and convert it to AI??
Where did you read that? You´re saying you´re importing JPEG from Canva into Inkscape - make Bitmap Trace and want that result converted to AI by exporting. Inkscape can´t export into Adobe´s proprietary file format. That´s why I suggest to Save as...-> PDF. AI can read PDF as all apps from the Creative Suite I guess..

Hi Bob.
There´s no AI exporter in Inkscape available. Why not use PDF as an interim file format?
They absolutely want AI format !!!

If it would be so simple I would of found it by now!

See look! Still haven't found it !
