Beginners' Questions Bevelling Text in Inkscape

Trying to achieve a cast bronze plaque effect on text using the built in bevel filters (see attached) but none of them seem to be able to it.  Am I missing something, or is there a custom extension that may be able do this? (I did search the extensions but nothing there)

Can do it "properly" in a 3D program in an instant using PBR textures made from the text.

In inkscape you have all the limitations of 2D. Result depends much on the level of detail you want to provide.

For example an emboss effect in perspective can be drawn using the motion extension -however the faces won't be shaded based on a light source and may have problems with curved letters.

If an ortographic projection is fine -i.e. the emboss effect shows all the sides drawn by parallel lines- it gets much simpler.

Translating copies of the text can generate the overall shape.

If it's just about the shading -as in, the plaque is viewed exactly from the front- then it's a matter of blurring a darker duplicant of the text object below it.

With custom filtering you can combine the shading and the embossing and also generate a bronze texture.

Here is a set of similar filters:

Gave it a try with a simple blurred backdrop (using custom filters to generate a grainy pattern).

The colours, the blending modes, the dithering could be fine-tuned; there is no bevel around the edges with highlights and you cannot see the sides of the beveled text.

That could take some more hours just to achieve something closer that can be done in 3D with one click by default.

Still unsure what's your goal with this. Yes, you are able to achieve almost any look but you have to ask yourself does the juice worth the squeeze?

Attaching the svg to see if your machine melts upon exporting it to a raster image.

Well that texture was uncalled for. Just one way to show how backwards inkscape handles these simple things.

The bronze background is less of an issue I have some gradients I can use.  I like how the text part of your image looks, thats pretty much what I'm trying to do.  I assume its just a copy of the text placed behind- expanded a bit and a blur applied? I did look in your file but the text path just showed a simple gradient.
