There is the excellent inkscape-silhouette plugin for sending drawings from within Inkscape to (Silhouette) cutting machines (and Robocut, which can be used in a similar way). The cutting machines come with adapters for pens, which are actually not too bad to print on vinyl sheets.
The plugin accurately follows the paths in the drawing, which is perfect for cutting out things and exactly what it is programmed to do.
When using a pen however, I would rather want the cutting machine to make single strokes instead of following the outline defined by the paths. I could not think of an easy solution (because it is probably difficult to make the cutting machine account for different stroke widths used in a drawing), but I would be interested if someone has found an rough workaround.
