Please don't post artwork containing AI generated graphics. as it can be hard to see what you (the artist) has produced using Inkscape.
You're encouraged to discuss and offer feedback/constructive criticism to others, but please be respectful.
Most importantly, be creative, give your best, and have fun!
Nice challenge. I drew this penguin for some project involving Linux. Penguins are nice animals to draw. Oh, Pacer, last year you mode some really nice comments (in November?). I didn't answer, but it was very appreciate.
I am working on an American Avocet. Here is the head and neck. It is a large shorebird. I have seen these birds as they have migrated through Ohio the past few years. I am working off one of my own photos as well as using other photos I have found online to fill in some details.
I like everyone's entries very much :) They are sooo cute :) Here is my entry: a butterfly from circles. (The circles contains the center of the body and the right hand side, since I mirrored the right hand side.)
Thanks @Pacer The process was the usual, first pen tool or pencil tool depending on what I was doing. Then I used already made paths to create new paths, it's a technique that speeds up the process and creates shapes according to the existing. For the texture of the trunks, they are just lines with roughen of LPE applied. I also like to use Power stroke for details, it makes it all faster. As it is difficult for me to explain it, I leave a small video about the process, just as an example, for the final shapes it takes time and a lot of retouching 😊https://youtu.be/2vGktAZE1K4?si=cEaWS_8fZr-iQGfS
Finally having a proper computer back and the office set up, all tools installed, most tested, and running... I thought I would give Inkscape a spin on the new machine and have some fun with the monthly challenge. Here's my entry using all of my favorites - power strokes, taper strokes, clip groups, blurs, offset, pattern along path, and various blend modes.
Just a heads up. I'm out of town at to moment, so this month's challenge banner may be a few days late. The next challenge topic, if you want to get started, is creating 'texture' patterns and using them in your artwork. Basically, design a seamless pattern (convert to a pattern with Object > Pattern > "Objects to Pattern" ) and use it as a texture for something. An example of this is the giraffe in the January challenge. Banner to come soon. :)
We challenge you to:
Draw your favorite animal
Let's see what you come up with!

And another penguin that was my greetings card for this year.

I'm doing something, but I don't know if I'll be able to finish it. In the meantime, I'm sharing this Koi and this Phoenix from a previous challenge.
Black Panther in its habitat.
@mrks9 Beautiful work, Marcos! I think, I like more the second version.
Thanks, @Inkonic The first version is what I get in Inkscape. The second one is retouched in Gimp in terms of color.
@mrks9 Your work is amazing. I like all of them :)
Thanks @devviktoria Glad you like it.
Sorry I have been quiet... lots going on right now. However, I am seeing the artwork flooding in and there are some lovely pieces on here.
@sandpiper I love the bird, very tidy, good shading.
@razr Beautiful dog, great work!
@pjschleitwilerfcm Nice fish, good use of transparency. Dog looks good too.
@Caradjine Those are some cute penguins. Thanks for sharing.
@Ianp5a Love your family of bunnies :)
@devviktoria good use of clones. Very neat.
@Inkonic lovely work, seamless composition and consistent style.
@mrks9 Wow, that panther is stunning. That is one to frame and put on your wall. What was your process?

Hello everybody, here's my last entry for this month🐵🚀🙂
I found a beautiful moth a while ago, here is a tribute to it <3
Too late... Again.
I drew in 2023 a "subatomic" cow, accidentally obtained using metaball tutorial.
