I am having a problem that is similar to what @kermitdb was having in August of 2023. The thread led to a bug issue being worked on, but from there it ends. Without going to released 1.4 Beta is there anything to circumvent the issue of not being able to change the HSB values of raster image? I was viewing a tutorial by Logos By Nick where he goes into changing Hue = 0, Saturation = 0 and the Brightness to -50, but you can't go negative. How is he doing it?
Thank you in advance for your time and consideration in this matter.
I downloaded 1.2.2.paf.exe, ran it, and imported a raster image - attached. Went: Extensions > Raster > HSB Adjust... and the dialog box appeared. Still cannot go below 0.0 on the Brightness.
Yes, I checked-off for the live preview, waited about 30 seconds. Even though nothing occurred I still Accept(ed) it. I cannot figure thought (this aside) how he was able to get a negative value in Brightness input. Perhaps something in the preferences? Maybe he is doing that just to get you to sign up for a class and then he will tell you.
Is this something that is able to be done with 1.4 Beta?
I have commented on a video with a question in the past and he doesn't respond. As I understand this is not an isolated case YT is notorious for not sending comment to the poster for older videos.
I agree with you, but the fact remains why there is no change.
I am not sure if it would be acceptable to upload the YouTube video so you can do what he is doing. However, if you search "Carved Wood Effect" the first video that pops up in the listing is the one I am referring to.

The tutorial Carved Wood Effect on YouTube is 8 years old.
The video description states it is for Inkscape version 0.48.
You will find all versions of Inkscape for Windows in the link provided in post #2.

You can use the portable version of 1.2.2 without uninstalling your current version.
InkscapePortable_1.2.2.paf.exe

Thank you for the quick reply.

Is this the look you want?
Aero,
This what I get compared to yours - no diference.png
This is a screenshot of what he gets - LogosbyNick.png
Is there a difference if you try it on a bitmap copy (edit menu)?
I will try. None of them eluded to that though.
Changing the copy to Bitmap Copy did not make a difference, save for blurriness.
Did you try checking preview or hitting the Apply button?
Sorry for the late reply.

I'd put a 50% opacity black rectangle in front of the bitmap. Seems easier.

Is this an Windows issue? Works here on macOS afaik:
The extension seems to be broken in Windows. https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inkscape/-/issues/4535
Tyler,
I take it that the issue is being addressed to correct the problem for Windows OSs?
Yes, likely in v1.4.
Thank you Tyler.
When the official v1.4 is released I will upgrade to that.
The issue has been RESOLVED.

I opened the wood grained texture and applied the HSB Absolute to: Hue = 0. Saturation = 0 and the Brightness = 50 in 1.2.2.paf.exe and it worked.
Thank you. I apologize!!! I will proceed from here with 1.2.2.paf.exe for this.
Not as vibrant, but I'd say it was a success.
Once I have v1.4-beta... running I'll be pressing on. 1.2.2.paf... is going to be useful too; thanks Aero, Tyler and Polygon for putting up with me.
