Hello my friends. I have a recent problem which I don't know how to solve and has casued me lots of problems with my model airplane kits: When I open a model airplane plan with parts in Inkscape to be vectorize for laser cutting it appears much, much larger as compared to the same plan opened in any bitmap software like Photoshop. In Photoshop, the plan ALWAYS opens in the exact size (height-width). When I open the plan using Inkscape using the tab IMPORT, the plan appears much larger. What can be wrong and how can I correct it? I appreciate your help very much.
Hello Tyler, thanks for your reply- I had the.92 version of Inkscape. It occurred to me if I un-install this old version and install the latest, would help, and it did. Plans appeared with the correct size. Anyway, here I am enclosin the original JPEG plan,. perhaps you find something wrong with it and could happen again.
Thank you very much for your help. However, please check how my Inkscape (latest version downloaded yesterday) opens when I click for Preferences. Completely different from your version, Can you help me here? Thanks in advance.
In v1.0 the "Bitmaps" pane in the prefs has been renamed to "Imported Images". Select that in the list on the left of the preferences dialog and you should see a similar set of preferences to those in TD's screenshot.

Can you share an example file? That could help us provide a solution.

For others, and for the future, I was successful by entering the DPI of the image file with the Default import resolution in Preferences.
Of course, since the image has indications of measurement, the artwork can be scaled to match the values in the image.
Very informative, thanks
