I make .dxf's for my router then I join the segments/paths and ark fit the segments as I was tough in the Cambam forums for my router engraving. Now Im using a laser and Lasergrbl and using .svg's. when I look at the paths in Inkscape they seem joined but Cambam requires me to join them! I make a center line path for the laser to follow but the laser/gcode does not follow each path complete. It does part of one then part of another,...Ive tried to join them in Inkscape with out success.
Its working better now. I never understood the carving software cambam it is almost like the importer separated the paths as they always looked good/connected in Inkscape.
Off topic the horse is an attempt at making an artistic looking sign and cutting down the time. Its burned into wood with the bark edges, I got the idea from the bugs that make paths in the wood under the bark. they are 4 to 8 feet long.
I used the extension and the paths work fine now. there are almost no options for using svg's in lasergrbl.

Your paths are already combined. I´d try this extension to reorder subpath: https://inkscape.org/~EllenWasbo/★reverse-order-of-subpaths
Maybe a simple Path->Break Apart.
