I'm on a Mac running Sonoma 14.5 with the latest build of Inkscape for Mac and every time I open the program all the controls are frozen. Nothing works at all. I've tried reinstalling the OS on my computer to solve the issue but that did not work. What do I do?
If it´s an update of Inkscape find its Preferences/User config file to delete at Macintosh HD/Users/User/You/Library/Application Support/org.inkscape.Inkscape/config/Inkscape="preferences.xml" rename it or delete it and restart Inkscape. Fingers crossed.
Using a macbook air M3, same issue. Program freezes on start. You can see the window open and all menu options at top, howevery ou cannot click on anything.
I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling, installing unstable version, the fix mentioned above to delete preferences.xml. Nothing working so far.

What do you mean by "an update of Inkscape"? I'm running 1.3.2.
Did you have a previous version installed and then installed 1.3.2?
Ok, I did what you suggested but it had no effect. Problem persists unchanged.
No, I had reset the computer to factory settings so it was a clean install of Inkscape.
What Mac are you running Sonoma on?
A 2019 16" MacBook Pro with an Intel Core i9 and 32GB RAM
I can‘t tell where the compatibility issue is. Are you sure there‘s no former Inkscape/Preferences.xml file in your Library (Path in reply#2)?
There was none, and again, this is being done on a completely clean install of the OS.
I should also note I have had this problem before. Several months ago, but I don't remember how I resolved it.
Perhaps try the 1.4beta/Intel then: https://inkscape.org/release/1.4beta/mac-os-x/
I run it on an M1Mac/BigSur.
This is an intel mac running Sonoma 14.5 so not sure that it’s possible?
Why not?
Ok, I installed the 1.4 beta with identical results. It opens but all the controls are non-functional and the only thing to do is close the program.
Have you deleted the Preferences.xml before starting 1.4beta?

Anyone figured it out yet?
How did you uninstall exactly?
CCleaner
