I've successfully exported x-y coordinates from Excel in CSV format to Veusz to form a shape. Then exported from veusz as .svg. Then imported to inkscape. The shape shows as expected but it also has a box around it with the graph axes and measurements. I wanted to import just the shape. How can I extract the plain shape from the graph border?
Sorry I wanted to include a screenshot but can't find any instructions on creating a forum post.

The objects might be grouped. The first tutorial in Inkscape's Help menu covers this briefly.
There is also the manual: http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/Groups.html
The type of object or group can be seen in the status bar information area at the bottom of the screen. http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/Anatomy.html
To attach a screenshot, click on the paperclip button below the reply text area.
OK thanks for that. Un-grouping fixed it.
