Beginners' Questions How to skip double lines?

Say I glue a row of squares next to each other by using snap.

After that I want to combine them to one figure. If I use path>union, the lines between them disappear (so outline only.) If I use path>combine, they become one figure, but the lines where they touch each other are now double. So if I put the resulting svg file in my laser cutter, it now cuts the combined sides twice. So I want these lines where the squares touch to be single.

So how do I undouble these double lines?

Hope this discribes my problem clear enough. Thanks.

    This extension might help. https://inkscape.org/~EllenWasbo/β˜…remove-duplicate-lines-with-tolerance

    Thanks for that! πŸ‘

I am a bit surprised actually that Inkscape needs an extension for this. I think the program itself should have a built in option for this while snapping, but this way it works reasonably well.

It is nice to see that the Cutlings site uses stacking hexagons as example, because that is also what I needed this for. I just used snapping squares in my question for simplicity, haha. πŸ˜„
