Let's say I want to create a comic or visual manual in Inkscape with two or more pages, and export that into a PDF file that can be scrolled and printed in the usual page-by-page way.
Is there any way I can do pagebreaks / multiple pages in Inkscape? I have searched the existing extensions and forum entries, but I couldn't find any that would help with this specific task.
Of course it's possible to create one page at a time in Inkscape and import the individual pages e.g. into MS Word (either as png or pdf or even as svg) and subsequently export the multipage Word file into the desired format. But this always comes with a loss of details, scalability or important properties such as the exact size and coordinates of objects.
In other words, a PDF created with Inkscape can be zoomed and printed perfectly, but it' always only one page. A multipage document created with other programs by importing Inkscape output comes out blurry or wrong.
There is an extension for versions earlier than v1.0 that allows one to have multiple pages. I suspected that one could use layers for multiple pages if such an extension did not exist. The extension comes with a warning that using the extension for multiple pages removes the layer option.
The linked site will provide a download of an EXE file, but it appears to be okay (Windows). The installation defaulted to Program Files (x86) folder, which caused the installation to fail, until I changed it to the correct folder name. After installing, the extension list from the menu bar provides a Pages entry. One then uses the Create Multipage document, which is followed by a number of warnings, but eventually gets you to the desired result.
I did not research or test the multi-page PDF output capability of this extension.
