Beginners' Questions Bevel corners when should be mitered

I hope I'm missing something here and such a simple answer. I have a rectangle with Miter Join. When I have a Maximum length of the miter (in units of stroke width) LESS than 1.5 I get a bevel corner. However when Maximum length of the miter (in units of stroke width) is 1.5 or GREATER then the corner is properly mitered. Happens v1.2.2

I'm sure it's an obvious answer.

    Thanks in advance

And the question is? The miter is influenced by the corner angle not stroke width afaik.

Someone once said something like...  "If at first you don't understand something, it must be intuitively obvious."

It still ain't obvious to me.

I have edited previous post to point out the INKSCAPE options (wording) set. Not sure how to include images on this forum, other than off-site hosting. A picture (image) is worth a thousand words... I think that "in units of stroke width" might be wrong? Or maybe 1.4/1.5 is just whatever it is???? Or, what is "length of the miter"? Doesn't seem to make any difference on stroke width. Again, not obvious, but thanks in advance - again.

Find the "Paperclip" Icon or drag the image directly into the Editor window.

Not sure if this helps somehow - but it´s pretty much consistent in all Vector drawing apps I know (and I have a lot of them)

Ah ha! Poly, thank you! Here are a couple images. Thanks again Polygon. Even if I got all this messed up in my head, I appreciate your kind patience. Best
