I have an image and it includes a lot of background clutter,  I wish to delete all except the main object,  any help is greatfully appreciated.  thanks

right now I have it as .jpg  or in a lightburn 

I'd suggest an bitmap editor like GIMP for the cleaning up then. In Inkscape you just can do rectangular cropping. Or clip or mask parts, but these parts are still there - just invisible.
