    I have a simple idea that would help my work, and of course being a beginner I have no idea if it is possible or how I would do it.

    It would be great if 'somehow in the land of code', it would be easy to automatically enable each layer's name to be made into a editable text box on that layer.

    Similar to an automated layer labeling feature. "Make Layer name appear on layer as text box".

    Impossible?

    Maybe it's not and I would like hear if anyone thinks this is possible.

    Have you checked already Layer->Layers…?

    And the label is located at the status bar.
