It is CONSTANTLY crashing. It crashes to desktop on both my Laptop and Surface Pro 7 (both Windows 10). This has been happening for a month or so. It doesn't seem to be isolated to a certain action or anything. It is very random, but will crash every 5 minutes or so, sometimes only after a minute or two, sometimes while opening a menu item, or drawing a line, or saving a file, or opening a file... it will crash just by zooming in or out... anything, really.
Sometimes it saves, so I can open everything back up where it was before the crash (save file has a long number or something added to the file name, so it's easy to spot). But most of the time, I lose everything I have done since the last crash.
This has gone way beyond frustrating. I am finally getting pretty familiar with the software, so I really don't want to look for an alternative, but it's getting to the point where enough is enough.
I feel your pain. No other app is more crashing on me than Inkscape since 2004 on Mac. Lesson I learned with the latest iterations of macOS+Inkscape is to delete everything Inkscape installation related from the HD before updating. This had helped and made it at least quite usable. Still crashes and it´s hard to get to a pattern when it start to makes sense to file a bug report. Funny wise it crashes more on checking foreign files than my own. I wished there is some cure or receipt to prevent Inkscape from crashing but on macOS it´s more likely code based and with no Mac developer on board it´s no wonder.
Why Autosave isn´t working for you escapes me - I wouldn´t touch Inkscape without it enabled. As I said; Maybe delete everything Inkscape related and make a fresh install. We´re on 1.1.1 BTW.
Same problem with 1.1.1 under Win10 latest update. It suddenly desappears, without saving anything.
I had it with my previous version (<1), but less frequently. It seems that saving often leads to less crashes. This, and the way it crashes, makes me think of an overflow somewhere, maybe dealing with the autosave, every 5 mn for me, wich doesn't seem to work
I am running Inkscape 1.1

Is anyone else having this issue? .

Moved this topic.
Here is the bug tracker filtered for crashes. https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inkscape/-/issues?label_name%5B%5D=crash
I'd review these reports and see if any match your experience, and add your information.
