wouldn't be more productive (and satisfying) if the same command for open a dialog could be able to close the dialog too?
I mean, if I type shift+crtl + F, I open the fill and stroke dialog. but if I want to close it, I need go to the X button. I think that is better if the dialog closed if I press the shift+crtl+f again.
or there is a other way of close the dialog with the keyboard?
hahaha. It seems that windows version is the most "poor" of inkscape.
linux, obviously, gets more attention. even the mac version seems more powerful.
I see that I can close the dialog (with focus) if I press crtl+w, but the change of focus (Esc) only woks of dialog to canvas, not the other way around.
What has hardware to do with it - or do you mean Keyboard? Usually F10/F11/F12 on macOS is for audio controls - unless you configure it to what ever you like:
Built in to a laptop or wireless, it's still a keyboard. https://www.logitech.com/en-us/products/keyboards/mx-keys-mac-wireless-keyboard.920-009552.html

That´s a Windows thing I guess. On macOS it´s F12 or fn+F12 because F-keys always already taken by other macOS functionality.

F12 (Show/Hide Dialogs) should work the same on Windows and macOS.
Options for the fn/F-keys depends on the capabilities of your hardware. MX Keys have this option on both Windows and macOS.

Never used mobile Macs - just desktops.

Not sure what you want to say. And no clue how to access fn+F12 on the new M1X MacbookPros though. I can´t live with out num-block.
Luckily, there is lots of options for this in the MX keys software. 😊
I think we are talking at cross purposes. But that does not matter.
Have a great one.
yes, the f12 is ok. thank you 👍
I use F12 almost always and this is the optimal solution! Sometimes ESC and great!
yes. even because if you have the wrong focus, crtl + w close the document. 😐
