Hi there. Here is a method to cause your text to conform ("fit") inside an ellipse. Though mainly intended for Inkscape 0.92x Windows versions, I included information for Inkscape 1.0 also.

I have created and attached an Excel file that helps with the process.

The process uses the Lattice Deformation 2 Path effect.

The end result is your text showing in an ellipitcal shape, with a barrel like distortion due to the curved shape that is used ( the ellipse dimensions).
